Reporting your Claim

  1. Claims can be called in to your agent, the direct line for your insurance company, or your member portal.
  2. Information that will be required at this time is the date of loss and type of loss.

Your Insurance Adjuster

  1. The purpose of the adjuster phone call will be to set up an appointment, date, and time for an inspection.
  2. The call should occur within 72 hours of filing your claim, if you have not heard from them within this amount of time, you should reach out to your insurance company.
  3. The adjuster that contacts you may either be a staff employee of the insurance company, an independent licensed adjuster, or a third-party inspection company. If you are contacted by an unlicensed inspection company, it is in your best interest to request a licensed adjuster perform the inspection.

Your Inspection

  1. Most inspections will occur within 7 days of the contact from the adjuster.
  2. During the inspection, the adjuster will inspect the exterior and interior of your home, as well as any other structures.
  3. All roofs should be inspected from the roof. If the adjuster is not willing to access the roof, a complaint should be filed with the insurance company.
  4. Upon the completion of the inspection, the adjuster will not likely give you any results of the inspection, as any findings are subject to an internal review for determination of coverage by your insurance company.

Your Initial Insurance Settlement

  1. Within 7-10 business days of the inspection, you will receive an estimate. A check will be mailed for the amount of the estimate minus the deductible and depreciation. Typically, checks received from the insurance company will be made out to the named insured and the mortgage company of record.
  2. The settlement you receive from the insurance company is not a final coverage decision.
  3. It is not mandatory for you to provide a copy of the estimate to the contractor, however it provides the contractor an itemized
